Kasich Wins N.H. Expectations Game – Now What?

The top-line winners in last night’s New Hampshire primary were Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders on the Democratic side and businessman Donald Trump on the Republican side. Arguably, however, the biggest “winner” of the evening was Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who surged to a clear second-place finish last night while finishing ahead of his fellow governors, Florida’s Jeb Bush and New Jersey’s Chris Christie.

Christie Drops Out of GOP Race

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will announce today that he is dropping out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to multiple media outlets. According to Ricochet, a conservative news site, both ABC News and Fox News have reported via Twitter that Christie will be suspending his campaign today.

Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina may not make CBS debate cut

Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are all guaranteed an invitation to the debate because they finished in the top three in the Iowa caucuses.

For the other candidates, it will require finishing in the top five in Tuesday night’s New Hampshire primary, or in the top five in an average of national and South Carolina polls. Those polls must be approved by CBS News and released before noon on Feb. 12.

After a disappointing sixth-place finish in the state upon which he had staked his presidential bid, Gov. Chris Christie is heading home to New Jersey on Wednesday to weigh his options for the future of his campaign.

The governor had originally planned to fly to South Carolina to attend a forum, saying Tuesday morning that he had already booked a plane ticket. But his showing led him to change his plans as the vote totals came in Tuesday night.
